You may have house mold in your basement if you smell that "musty" odor or see small black mold or white spots along your damp basement walls. But sometimes house mold is hidden behind walls, paneling, wallpaper or ceiling tiles and even though you can't see it, it's still growing. The source of your house mold problem is some sort of water leak or moisture incursion. There may not be a visible sign of any leak or standing water, but the moisture evaporates, which increases indoor humidity. High humidity indoors, which is also caused by normal daily activities like cooking, drying clothes and showering, may be the source of your moisture problem.
